One to One Video Sessions
I believe that face to face counselling in a room together is the ideal, there’s just something about being able to get the essence of your counsellor by being in the room together.
However, I am realistic that in many cases this is just not plausible or possible. In these cases I see online counselling as closest an option as possible.
The benefits of online counselling over phone counselling is you are able to see me, and I am able to see you, much of our communication is through body language, eye contact/lack of eye contact which can help you and me within the therapeutic work together.
How does online counselling work?
Counselling is on a one to one basis so needs to take place in a environment where you feel comfortable, away from distractions and interruptions. This is best in a room by yourself during the session.
I use a video conferencing software called Zoom which creates an easy to use secure connection with audio and visual. After we have agreed a meeting date and time via telephone or E-mail I will send you details to be able to connect at the mutually agreed time.
What will happen during the session?
During the initial session we will discuss your requirements, how we may work together, and our online working contract (you can view a copy here), this will be our joint working agreement for the counselling relationship. Ongoing sessions are 50 mins long and the content discussed during the sessions is mainly lead by you.
How long will I need counselling?
This varies from person to person. On the initial session we will mutually agree a day and time for the sessions, also a review period. So the length of time in counselling is constantly reviewed and managed together.
